PLAYGROUP NEWS

(last updated Feb 2012)

We would like to start this months report with some very good news.  Towards the end of last year we received a surprise visit by an Ofsted inspector.  We are very pleased to be able to announce that she gave us a ‘good’ grading, improving on our previous ‘satisfactory’.  We believe this is an indication of the hard work and commitment put in by all members of staff, past and present.

The children continue to enjoy their time at playgroup and are showing signs of increased confidence and independence.  It is always lovely when they feel a sense of achievement, all be it something which we take for granted such as putting on a coat or doing up a zip.  These are all skills that have to be learned and we are always encouraging and supportive.

Many children are becoming much more talkative too as their vocabularies increase.

Finally we would like to offer our congratulations to some of our parents who have recently or are about to give birth.  Don’t forget to put your little ones names down for playgroup!

SICA PLAYGROUP

(last updated 17 December 2010)

We are open 4 sessions a week during school term time.

Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 9.15 to 12.15. Children can join us as once they are 2. They move on from us to Preschool for a year and then big school!

As an early years setting we receive government funding for children the term after they turn 3 years old. Some children therefore receive help for two terms, some one and some none at all until they enter pre-school. We therefore keep our fees as low as possible so nobody misses out. At present our fees are £10.00 per session.

We follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’, which is intended to help practitioners plan to meet the diverse needs of all children so most will achieve their early learning goals by the end of the foundation stage. We plan our topics around 6 areas of learning : personal, social and emotional development

Communication, language and literacy

Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy

Knowledge and understanding of the world

Physical development

Creative development

But most of all we aim to play and have fun!!

Playgroup leaders are: Diane Hinchcliffe and Rachael Gilholme

Assistants are: Joanne Ridley and Debbie Bell

You can register your child at anytime by contacting the Community Centre Manager or a leader by phone or in person during playgroup time. We need a few details including your name, your child’s name, date of birth, address and phone number. We welcome visits anytime so you can get a better feel for what we can offer your child.

The Playgroup telephone number is 07857894313
