SICA PLAYGROUP NEWS

(last updated 3 July 2008)

The end of term is fast approaching and the children are getting ready to move on to Pre-school.  It is amazing when we look back over the year to see how much they have come on.

We still have some fun events to look forward to, including a teddy-bears picnic with Pre-school and reception, and our visit to Tynemouth on the 17th July.

The children are enjoying art on a large scale at the moment and are producing some lovely group pieces which are on display in the Playgroup rooms.

Any parents of children born between 1st Sept 2005 and 31st Aug 2006 are invited to bring their children to our open evening on July 8th at 6pm to talk about their child starting at Playgroup next year.  If you are not able to attend you are welcome to call in anytime during a Playgroup session.

4 August 2007 - Lyn and Rosie's contact details removed

We are open 3 sessions a week during school term time.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9.10 11.40am. Children join us as soon as they turn 2 ½ and are toilet trained. They move on from us to Preschool for a year and then big school!

As an early years setting we receive government funding for children the term after they turn 3 years old. Some children therefore receive help for two terms, some one and some none at all until they enter pre-school. We therefore keep our fees as low as possible so nobody misses out. At present our fees are £4 per session.

We follow the ‘Curriculum guidance for the foundation stage’, which is intended to help practitioners plan to meet the diverse needs of all children so most will achieve their early learning goals by the end of the foundation stage. We plan our topics around 6 areas of learning : personal, social and emotional development

Communication, language and literacy

Mathematical development

Knowledge and understanding of the world

Physical development

Creative development

But most of all we aim to play and have fun!!

Joint playgroup leaders are:

You can register your child at anytime by contacting the warden or a leader by phone or in person during playgroup time. We need a few details including your name, your child’s name, date of birth, address and phone number. We welcome visits anytime so you can get a better feel for what we can offer your child.
